Inside Damage from Roof Blowing Off Saturday
by Pam Slifer
June 23, 2010
On Saturday, June 19, 2010 most of the metal roof blew off the Vermillion School Building. If you drove up to the building, it really didn't look too bad. When you stepped inside you could see there was a serious problem. When I walked into the Board Room, it was raining inside.
I'm not sure who put the word out but, people started showing up from all over the place. We would have lost so much more if it had not been for the quick action of the people that appeared. As you can tell from the pictures, many things were taken to the Gym. It is such a good thing that we had the roof on the Gym fixed recently. Those of us at the District Office would like to thank these people. The following is a list of those people. If I have missed anyone, I am so sorry and thank you so very much!

I'm not sure what we would have done without your help.
When we came in on Sunday, there was about 3 inches of water standing in two of our hallways. We were using snow shovels and brooms to chase the water out the back door.
As of today, we have men working on the roof and the inside is in the process of being dried out. It will be quite some time before things get back to some kind of normal routine.
