USD 380 Mathematics Curriculum

Scope and Sequence

                       

College Algebra Standards

 

Standard 1  Number and Computation

 

Indicators:  The student

 

CA 1.1

understands and identifies sets of real numbers.

CA 1.2

performs basic operations on real numbers.

CA 1.3

performs basic operations on complex number systems.

CA 1.4

evaluates exponential and logarithmic expressions.

CA 1.5

performs operations on functions, composition on functions.

 

Standard 2 Algebra

CA 2.1

knows, explains and uses basic operations on polynomials and rational expressions.

CA 2.2

understands and uses factoring.

CA 2.3

uses exponential rules for real exponents.

CA 2.4

simplifies radicals.

CA 2.5

solves systems of linear equations, linear inequalities, absolute value in equations and inequalities, quadratic equations, and equations reducible to quadratic form, polynomial and rational inequalities.

CA 2.6

solves exponential and logarithmic equations

CA 2.7

solves systems of equations by Cramer’s Rule.

CA 2.8

solves systems of second degree equations.

CA 2.9

solves applied maximum and minimum problems.

 

Standard 3 Geometry

CA 3.1

uses coordinate systems to graph circles, linear equations, parabolas and functions.

CA 3.2

analyzes the graph of a function and its inverse.

CA 3.3

determines if a graph is a function or if the function has an inverse.

CA 3.4

uses a graphing calculator to analyze functions.

CA 3.5

graphs and analyzes exponential and logarithmic functions.

CA 4.1

performs basic operations on matrices.

CA 4.2
