District Level Team
Minutes
September 8, 2004
The meeting of the District Level Team was called to order on September 8, 2004 at 8:45 a.m. in the Central Office by John Showman.
Members attending: John Showman, Lisa Schmitz, Shelly Hasenkamp, Jason Wheeler, Brenda Bergman, Sharmon Polson, Sherri Alverson, Rhonda Trimble, Karen Morton, Bob Myers, Melissa Kennedy, Dean Dalinghaus, Beth Reust, and Pam Slifer.
1. Approval of Agenda (any additions).
Bob Myers moved to approve the agenda with the addition of “evidence” to number 3.
Jason Wheeler seconded the motion. Motion carried 13-0.
2. Approval of May 4, 2004 minutes.
Sharmon moved to approve the May 4, 2004 minutes.
Bob Myers seconded the motion. Motion carried 13-0.
3. Discussion on awarding inservice points.
Discussed evidence needed for awarding inservice points. Evidence needs to be marked as to what it is for when it is turned in. Transcripts will be sent to the Central Office for Pam Slifer to make copies and send to the Building Representative.
4. Discussion on negotiated agreement and movement.
a. Everyone needs to specify if the Conference or Workshop they are going to is district required or teacher requested.
b. Out of district inservice points need to have applications points to be able to use the points for movement on the pay scale.
c. In-district inservice points can be used for movement on the pay scale at the knowledge level.
d. Beth Reust will think about whether the cost of presenting out of district is included in the $300 that is allowed per teacher, per year for conferences and workshops as per the Negotiated Agreement.
5. Election of vice-chairperson.
a. Karen Morton nominated Rhonda Trimble for vice-chairperson. Jason Wheeler moved to close the nominations. Brenda Bergman seconded the motion. Rhonda Trimble was voted in 12-0.
b. John Showman made a motion to maintain the building representatives (Sharmon Polson – K-6, Bob Myers – 7-12, Shelly Hasenkamp – K-6, and Brenda Bergman – 7-12) for the 2004-05 school year. Motion carried 13-0.
6. Confirm inservice schedule for 2004-05.
The following inservice schedule was confirmed for the 2004-05 year:
September 20 Math Assessment and Standards Training, 8:30-noon, with Ruth Harbin-Miles (District Teachers at Frankfort, Breakfast 8 a.m.; Lunch at Frankfort – noon).
KPERS Meeting over lunch hour at Frankfort 12:00-1:00.
ITBS Meeting Grades 3-8, Counselors, Administration (finalize recommendation to the PDC as to changes in ITBS testing) Frankfort library 12:45.
DLN Training 1:00-3:00 Frankfort.
Afternoon: Building Teaming in home building, Frankfort 1 p.m.-4 p.m., Centralia 1:30 p.m.-4 p.m.
Technology: PDP Toolbox
Application of morning in-service skills.
Discussion of Math Standards and Assessment Results for QPA
Work on finalizing school improvement plan.
October 4 Reading Assessment and Standards Training 8:30-noon
(District Teachers at Centralia, Breakfast 8 a.m.; Lunch at Centralia – noon).
Afternoon: Building Teaming in home building.
Technology integration.
Application of morning in-service skills.
Discussion of Reading Standards and Assessment Results for QPA.
Work on finalizing school improvement plan.
November 3 District Technology Training
(District Teachers at Frankfort, Breakfast 8:00 a.m.; Lunch at Frankfort – noon).
8:30-10:15 Integration of student use of technology into daily lesson plans.
(Technology Committee, Larry G. and Dean D. chairpersons)
Guest speaker: 10:30-noon.
Lunch at Frankfort.
Afternoon:
PDC meeting in DLN room.
Teaming in home building/time for application of morning skills.
Finalize school improvement plan and create building profiles.
February 7 District Teacher In-service at Centralia, Breakfast 8 a.m.
Lunch at noon at Centralia.
Writing Training with Ann Addison, Grades K-6, 8:30-noon.
All other district teachers: Special Education Inclusion/Team.
Teaching Training 8:30-noon
Afternoon:
Teaming back at buildings/Application of morning skills.
QPA: share completed SIP and complete building profiles.
April 18 District Teacher In-service in home buildings.
Review and apply all professional development activities for the year.
Review of technology integrated lesson plans and technology plan.
Review of training and application of new skills for the year.
Lunch in home building.
Afternoon:
QPA: Review of Kansas Assessments results, SIP and building profiles.
May 25 District Celebration Luncheon at Vermillion, noon.
1-2 p.m. District Teaming at Vermillion, celebration of successes.
2:30-4:00 Building team meetings, celebration of successes.
7. Discuss Performance assessments.
Karen Morton and Jason Wheeler will be attending QPA Pilot Training on September 20, 2004.
Melissa Kennedy moved to evaluate ITBS testing materials and Lisa Schmitz will generate an email to gather evaluations from PDC members on September 20, 2004,
Bob Myers seconded the motion. Motion carried 13-0.
8. Training Dates.
PDC Training for first level members (Dean Dalinghaus, Lisa Schmitz, Jason Wheeler, & Melissa Kennedy) is on September 15, 2004 from 9:00a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Wolf River.
PDC Training for second level members (Sherri Alverson, Brenda Bergman, Karen Morton, Beth Reust, Pam Slifer, John Showman, Bob Myers, Sharmon Polson, Shelly Hasenkamp, & Rhonda Trimble) is on October 12, 2004 from 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Wolf River.
9. Next meeting.
The next meeting of the district level team will be November 3, 2004 at Frankfort from 12:00-1:00 .
